Howard Latting l Martial Arts l 1988–present Howard teaches karate twice a week to all grades except Nursery. Some of Howard's "lifers" include Edward Hammer '09, Adam Kern '15, Joshua S. '20, and seniors Shaffi Rubbani, and Jonathan Screen—all of whom started taking Martial Arts in Kindergarten and continued for many years. Some have become teachers' assistants and, at college, became black belts. Howard's studio—WMA Karate—is based in Brooklyn. Clodagh McCloskey '97, Grade 3 Teacher l Cooking l Dance Fit l Fashion and Jewelry l Girls Running l 2008–present For the moment, Clodagh is the only Trevor alum teaching AfterSchool. She tells us her two different perspectives: "I love Trevor as an alum! My teachers, the friends I made here, and, of course Choreolab, are just a few of the reasons why I feel lucky to have been a Trevor student. I have an equal adoration of Trevor as a teacher. Being able to collaborate with so many amazing teachers, while also developing a personal teaching style, is a gift!" Does she have a most memorable moment? Clodagh answers, "It's hard to choose one, but I can narrow it down to watching the all-school Holiday Concert in the Church of the Heavenly Rest each year and dressing up as 80s girls with Lisa Goldberg way back when!" Joel Rappelfeld l Joel's Kids on Wheels l Rollerblading l Skateboarding l 2001–present Joel's Kids on Wheels and Roll America has been offering in-line skating classes at Trevor since 2001. Given their success, he then expanded his classes to include magic, dance, and skateboarding. Joel credits the AfterSchool directors (Shelly Miller preceded Lisa Goldberg) for "always having been open to growing with the times and allowing their students to experience new and different after-school classes, not only to learn, but also to have fun in the process." He adds, "It's always great when I'm skating though Central Park and hear one of my former kids call out, 'What color are they this year?'—referring to our always-changing graduation certificates and flying rings." Tosh Sheridan l Guitar l 2008–present Tosh tells us why he loves Trevor: "Some of my students started taking guitar with me when they were in 1st grade. I've been lucky enough to teach them for the last ten years! It's very rewarding, for me to see them mature and grow—both as students and as guitar players. Some have given truly amazing performances at recitals."
