For a semester-long project, each student is paired up with a classmate and assigned a country in the EU to visit and learn about. My country was Croatia, and I had to set up three interviews with Croats in a trip that was just a month away. A task that seemed so daunting became a lot easier when I remembered that my elementary school P.E. teacher, Mr. Cavar, grew up in Croatia! It has been over ten years since Mr. Cavar was my teacher, but he remembered me instantly and was so happy to help. With Mr. Cavar's network, I was able to set up an interview with his friend, Mladen, a marine consult in Croatia. We met for coffee and he couldn't have been more helpful and informative. His perspective was unique because he had seen Croatia transform from being a part of Yugoslavia, to becoming an independent country, to integrating into the EU. It was so great to reconnect with Mr. Cavar. My group partner and I were so grateful for his help!" Luke Kelly '17 A member of the Class of 2021 at Colby College, Luke was recently named to the Dean's List, for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2017–18 academic year. 4 6 T R E V O R D AY S C H O O L ■ S P R I N G 20 1 7 – 2 0 1 8 Class Happenings: 2000s–2010s
