HARI MOONGA Grades 9–12 Science Teacher and Advisor by Jamie McClintock ERIC RAISHER Grades 9–12 Science Teacher and Advisor by Jaden Satenstein '18 0 7 T R E V O R D AY S C H O O L ■ S P R I N G 2 0 1 7 – 2 0 1 8 Hari Moonga arrived at Trevor 19 years ago, crossing the Atlantic to start a new life in the United States. When Trevor needed an experienced teacher to start an innovative, coordinated science program, Hari's knowledge of the British education system made him the perfect choice. Hari helped build a program to give every Trevor student a deep and engaging experience in science. He brought an inquiry-based approach to his classes long before schools started using the term. Hari's students performed all sorts of hands-on explorations, and his seniors learned the skills required to rigorously test a scientific hypothesis. Hari also exposed us to the most unusual assortment of neckwear in the history of ties—his Looney Tunes and e Simpsons ties were particular favorites. His dry wit and sarcasm introduced a generation of Trevor students to British humor. As an English Sikh, Hari also brought a range of perspectives and experiences to Trevor that greatly enriched the community; he was always eager to share his life experiences with students. We wish Hari the best of luck as he moves on to new and exciting adventures around the globe. Whenever I enter the 9th floor, I am greeted with a smile from Mr. Raisher. No trip to the Science Center is complete without him asking how I am and cracking one of his usual clever jokes. roughout his years at Trevor, Mr. Raisher has proven to be someone who cares deeply not only about the academic performance of his students, but about their overall well-being and happiness. Mr. Raisher is not only a teacher you feel comfortable talking to, but he is someone you want to talk to. He is one of the most understanding and empathetic people I have ever met. He is not only willing, but excited to talk to his students about anything on their minds—whether or not it is related to his biology class. Mr. Raisher is always wholeheartedly and uncondi- tionally there for his students. Whenever I feel the need to talk or just escape the stress of upper school life, I know I can always go to Mr. Raisher's desk and receive his usual smile and "How are you?" It will definitely be a big desk to fill.
