Alumni Association Gets a New Look and Direction A dedicated group of alumni volunteers has been working over the past few years to bring enduring vitality to the alumni community. Originally formed as an ambassador group, they met regularly and have contributed valuable insights. Based on the results of alumni surveys, they developed a strategic plan, and an exciting new chapter for the Alumni Association has begun. "e energy is palpable," says Emily Walker Bracchitta, Director of Alumni Relations. Jenny Weiner Steingart '82 has been a driving force, and has taken on the role of President of the Alumni Association. In this capacity, she is also a member of the Board of Trustees, which gives greater voice to the alumni community. We asked Jenny what she sees as her vision for the Alumni Association. "My goals are large! I want to re- invigorate the alumni community and create a robust network of former students. e goal is to bridge past communities (e Day School, Walden, New Lincoln) with the newest iteration of what the school is: Trevor. By creating a connectedness between all of these branches, we can recognize and celebrate who we've been historically, while embracing who we are now. ere is overlap as well as differences—and there is room for all of it. We want to create a system in which alums can call upon each other for support and guidance as they go out into the professional world. We have extraordinary alumni, doing exciting things in the world; finding and enhancing ways to keep us all connected would be wonderful." Why did she take on this role? "My time at TDS was extremely special for me. e Day School was where my passions and talents were first recognized and cultivated— and that, in turn, shaped the direction of my life. I know what experiencing a rich and expansive curriculum can do for a young person because of what it did for me. e fact that all of these years later, Trevor is as committed and passionate about maintaining this level of engagement and excellence for their students was extremely compelling. Even though the location has changed from my days at the school, this place still feels like a part of me. I still maintain close relationships with many of the friends who I made here over 40 years ago, and I want to ensure today's student body has the kind of connectedness that my cohorts did. Taking on this role felt very natural to me." Formed from the original group of ambassadors, the Alumni Council is the leadership group of the Alumni Association, and is strategically committed to including all segments of our school's history. ey encourage communication and participation in the growing network—through events, updating contact information, and developing programming. e members of the current Alumni Council are: Sam Bart '07, Stefanie Bodis-Wollner '96, Chandler Carr '18, Steven Cohen (Walden) '82, Emily Cohn '13, Steven Dallas '09, Blair Davis '09, Grace Gallogly '10, Faiz Khan '11, Brian Landau '02, Nikki Tillman Lofton '85, Sadasia McCutchen '13, Margaret Connors McQuade '85, Oli Olafsson '11, Mason Stark '84, and Jenny Steingart '82, President. We need class representatives for each class year and many alums have already agreed to connect in this way. More are needed—please consider volunteering. e Alumni Association is all volunteer- based—if you have an idea, want to help grow connections, or have a specific role in mind, please reach out to one of the Council members or Emily Walker Bracchitta. ere is room for all, no matter what time commitment you can offer. e Alumni Relations Office is now on the 11th floor of the East Campus.
