Appointment of Koreé Hood as Assistant Head of School for Inclusivity, Equity, and Community Affairs April 2021 Dear Trevor Community: It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Koreé Hood as Assistant Head of School for Inclusivity, Equity, and Community Affairs, effective July 1, 2021. Koreé brings an impressive knowledge of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) practice as an educator, DEI director, curriculum writer, hiring director, and international consultant. He is a respected leader in the DEI sphere, experienced in working with all school constituencies: administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents, as well as alumni. He graduated magna cum laude from Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia. Koreé served as the inaugural Diversity Director at Miami's Palmer Trinity School from 2012 to 2016. ere, he helped to establish the school's vision for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In his own words, "is was a vision where we, as educators, not only challenged students to think intensively and critically on academic matters, but also to examine and practice what it means to be human—realizing that we, as humans, are connected and interdependent through the natural and social fabrics of life." Among his many responsibilities as Diversity Director, he was a member of the Administrative Executive Committee, Admissions Committee, and Academic Council; he created the first Student Diversity Committee; he designed the school's transgender policy for the safety of students and families; he established local partnerships to drive cross-cultural and interreligious relations; and he organized and spearheaded both the school's People of Color Conference and Student Diversity Leadership Conference experiences for 80+ students and faculty. Koreé was also tasked with the role of Hiring Director where he had the opportunity to design ethical and unbiased hiring policies and best practices and create a mentorship and support program for new faculty. During his time at Palmer Trinity, Koreé created and launched an inclusivity curriculum called Mosaic. Mosaic is built around several tenets of diversity—including, but not limited to, learning characteristics and differences, cultural awareness, privilege, ethics, race, class, and sexual and gender identity. He led the design of 112 unique age-appropriate and discussion-based Mosaic lessons in collaboration with faculty members, and he administered facilitation training for faculty and students. According to Koreé, "As a community, we invested in a program that both promulgated empathy and allowed us to discover, challenge, and affirm our own identities and beliefs via a safe classroom environment." Most recently, Koreé has served as a full-time consultant for inkclusive, a consulting group that he founded in 2016 to partner with schools throughout the U.S. and abroad. In his role helping schools actualize their unique DEI goals, he facilitates leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and cultural-awareness trainings; he implements the Mosaic curriculum; he collaborates on schools' strategic planning efforts toward their DEI vision; and he acts as a keynote speaker, speaking on such topics as "Beyond the Checked Box: Practical Steps to an Inclusive Campus," and "Rewriting the Golden Rule: How to Treat Others the Way THEY Want To Be Treated." e Assistant Head of School for Inclusivity, Equity, and Community Affairs position, new at Trevor, reports to the Head of School. Koreé will join the Trevor Leadership Team (TLT); he will supervise a team of faculty and staff Co-Directors; and he will be the lead administrator on the Board Committee for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. I would like to thank our parent and student ambassadors, administration, faculty, staff, and alumni for the time they devoted to interviewing candidates for this position. I am delighted with the outcome. I know you will join me in welcoming Koreé Hood to Trevor. Yours, Scott R. Reisinger Head of School Picture of Koreé to come
