Americans eat. Add work by the Maysles Brothers, Frederick Wiseman, D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, Jonathan Demme, Errol Morris, and Agnes Varda to the mix." Chris is particularly proud of his contribution to more contemporary masterpieces such as The Look of Silence, Last Train Home, American Promise, Motherland, Cameraperson, Minding the Gap, The Mole Agent, and Through the Night. We are not the first to profile Chris as an alum. In their Winter 2021 issue of Colgate Magazine, the National Geographic journalist Kristin Baird Rattini wrote about how George Floyd's murder the previous summer underscored the importance of the role that long-form documentaries play. They are, Chris maintains, "a powerful way of moving people, of highlighting our shared humanity, values, hopes, and aspirations, no matter our political beliefs, economic status, race, or gender." Perhaps Chris said it best: While he appreciates his many accolades and awards, "the greatest thrill for me is when a film is premiering at its first festival, and I'm sitting in the audience watching these beautiful films unfold and taking in the collective response of the people around me. Those moments when you can palpably feel the emotional reaction of the audience are the most thrilling for me." What's thrilling for us to share is that Chris is half of an historic first for TDS alumni. Chris and spouse, Francesca Olivieri '82, met as classmates at The Day School! Mirko Cavar, who has been with Trevor for over 40 years, believes "they are the first TDS student couple." Chris and Francesca married on June 17, 1995. They have three children: Willy, Henry, and Annabel. Francesca's career has been focused in two areas: content creation and environmental causes. She began writing children's books at Jim Henson Productions, then pivoted to producing content at Voyager and Time Warner Electronic Publishing in the era of CD-Roms. After a stint in the consumer division at IBM designing educational software and websites for cultural institutions, she started her own online eco-friendly baby store, Sage Baby, offering everything from organic clothes and skin care to furniture. She became an environmental blogger for Martha Stewart's Whole Living magazine, Huffington Post, Elephant Journal, The Family Grove, YogaCity, Citiscoop and Daily Candy Kids. And currently, she is a VP of Client Services at Re:Dish, a sustainability start-up helping corporations eliminate single-use disposables in their food services.
