Class Happenings Jenny Steingart '82 It's been a big few months for Jenny Steingart '82. On March 7th, the theater she co-founded with her husband Jon, Ars Nova, in memory of her brother, Gabe Wiener '84, was rechristened The Michael A. Wiener Theater, in honor of her father. The gift was made possible by her mother, Zena Wiener. Jenny shared, "Seeing my dad's name above the door of the theater in the building dedicated to my brother was deeply emotional and more meaningful than I could have imagined." Then, on May 8th, Ars Nova Theater celebrated its 20th Anniversary Nova Ball (co-hosted by Lin Manuel-Miranda and Tina Fey, among others) and honored Jenny and Jon as the co-founders of the organization. They were presented with a Special Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Eric Adams for Ars Nova's cultural contributions to the City of New York. On the day of the event Jenny was featured in an article in the New York Times entitled "Born of Grief, a Couple's Off Broadway Incubator Marks 20 Years." Dr. Natalie Hernandez '96 Dr. Natalie Hernandez '96 recently announced that she joined the Board for Healthcare Georgia Foundation. The foundation's mission is to advance the health of all Georgians and to expand access to affordable, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities. Natalie will also be on several panels including one for the National Institutes of Health in Maryland to discuss her work in maternal health entitled Innovative Approaches to Improve Maternal Health. Thank you, Dr. Hernandez for your efforts, and keep up the great work. Sarah Mandel '99 Sarah Mandel '99 recently reached out to let us know her debut book, Little Earthquakes: A Memoir has just been released. In 2017, Sarah was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer while eight months pregnant with her second child. In the span of a year, she went from being pregnant and apparently healthy, to being a metastatic cancer patient, to miraculously achieving no evidence of disease. As a clinical psychologist and mother, Sarah wrote this book about her experience and what she learned. Her publisher, HarperCollins, writes, "Mandel's inspiring and gorgeously crafted memoir… is an ode to life, body, and family born from her attempt to make sense of those disorienting years. Readers of Paul Kalanithi's When Breath Becomes Air and Kate Bowler's No Cure for Being Human will be blown away by this harrowing yet uplifting account of resiliency, love, and healing." We're so glad to hear you're better, Sarah. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. You can find Little Earthquakes at your book retailer now. 72 / TREVOR MAGAZINE SUMMER 2022–2023
