Girls Varsity Basketball Captain Joins an Elite Club
On Saturday, December 16, 2023, Gwyneth (Gwen) C. '24 sunk the 1,000th point of her
varsity basketball career.
Her shot, taken more than two feet
behind the three-point line, came
in the first half of a game versus
Friends Seminary, during the 2023
Nightingale Basketball Tournament.
Immediately following the three,
a time-out was called, and Gwen's
teammates rushed the court to
celebrate her achievement. Trevor
went on to defeat their opponents,
with Gwen scoring a total of 22
points. About this incredible feat,
Gwen says, "It felt both unreal
and exciting, knowing how hard
I had worked to accomplish this
moment. I was rushed with emotion,
surrounded by my team, friends,
and family."
Gwen has played varsity basketball
for Trevor since 8th grade and named
all-league in all three full seasons
she played (a year of interscholastic
competition was lost to COVID).
Though not yet announced at publi-
ca tion, based on this season's stats, she
is likely to be chosen as an all-league
player for her senior year as well.
