All-School Community Engagement
"I could feel the buzz of the Trevor
community coming together as
the elevator doors opened into the
cafeteria early Saturday morning,
when most of us would normally
still be in bed," said Anouk P. '24,
reflecting on Trevor-sponsored
community engagement events on the
mornings of Saturday, November 18,
2023, and Saturday, January 13, 2024.
These all-school community
engagement events supported a
variety of causes and communities
and offered varied projects suited
to a wide range of ages. Volunteers
prepared meal kits and hygiene kits
for New York Common Pantry and
Grassroots Grocery; crafted thinking-
of-you cards for homebound elderly;
created pet toys for local animal
care centers; completed projects
to spread joy and play to pediatric
patients through Project Sunshine;
and crafted heart-shaped boxes for
children and families experiencing
homelessness.
Over the course of these two events,
more than 250 students, faculty,
staff, alumni, and families came
together as a school to support a
range of community needs and
partner organization. Annabelle
L. '26 volunteered alongside her
brother and mother and walked away
with a new perspective. "After this
experience, I am even more grateful
for food and being able to help
others." n
