– Feature Article – Inquiring Minds Want to Know: A Student-Led Interview with Trevor's Head of School Interview by Deanna W. '31 and Arthur H. '33 In a recently established Trevor tradition, when a new Head of School begins their tenure, we ask Lower School students to welcome them with an interview. This year, Deanna W. '31 and Arthur H. '33 sat down with Mr. Daniel Feigin '84, P'26 to ask him about the past, present, and future of Trevor, plus a few fun questions thrown in for good measure. Deanna: Is it true you went to Trevor? What was it like? Mr. Feigin: It is true that I went to Trevor. It was much smaller then. The school started in Nursery and ended in 8th grade. So, we didn't have a high school at the time. A lot of us started when we were 3-year-olds and went to school together until we were 13. Then we had to part ways and go to different high schools. Deanna: It was in a church, right? Mr. Feigin: It was in the building next to the Church of the Heavenly Rest, but we used the church a lot. We used the stage for our musicals, that's where we held our assemblies, and sometimes music class. That was our version of an auditorium. It was almost like part of our school building; we used the church all the time. Deanna: What high school did you go to? Mr. Feigin: I went to a school called Packer in Brooklyn for four years. Then I went to Franklin & Marshall College, which is in Pennsylvania. Right after college, I came back to New York to teach at Trevor. So far, I've been an educator here for 31 years. In those 31 years I went to school one more time and got my Masters degree in Educational Administration at Columbia University. Arthur: What is your favorite memory from going to school at Trevor? Mr. Feigin: I have a lot! One of them is the winter concert. Every grade would perform; there was singing and dancing, just like the All-School Winter Assembly that we had in December. There was one time where the entire school learned the same song, and everyone sang different parts of it. It was truly amazing. 34 / TREVOR MAGAZINE WINTER 2023–24
