An Image to Remember My brother, Nick Stark '80, who is a photography buff, recently sent me scans of photos he found in his Day School collection. This one especially resonated with me for several reasons. First, it's taken in Putney, Vermont, a place that is one of those incredible connections every TDS student from my era has experienced. You see the barn students stayed in on the right; the Mansfield's house is on the left. Nick took this image on an alumni ski trip in 1994. Fellow Class of 1980 members John McGoldrick '80 and Tony Mansfield '80 are on the left. Margaret Conners-McQuade '85, AP'20, AP'23 and Maura Connors-Bohan '81 and Former Faculty are center and right respectively, with Margo Manhattan Arjang '81 and Dylan McGee '85 to the right of Mr. Mansfield. And of course, Thomas Mansfield is smack in the middle. From 1965 to 1978, Tom served as the first Headmaster of The Day School. Over those 13 years, Tom and the faculty built a school that challenged the norms of childhood education and that became an inspiration to countless students, teachers and parents. An Image to Remember is the closing feature of Trevor Magazine. Its subject deals with memory, which can be highly selective and personal. For those of us lucky enough to have spent time in Putney, it's one of those special commonalities in our memories that we can always share. It's been great sharing some of these moments with all of you the last three years. May our paths cross again in the future. All the best. —Mason Stark '84, P'27, P'32.
