Faculty Bulletins Carlin Lee, Middle School Band Teacher and Advisor, shared four pieces of excellent news: He graduated from NYU with a master's in Music Education. Next, Carlin was commissioned to compose a piece for the Eastern Wind Symphony. The premiere performance was held at Princeton University this past February, where he was a soloist with the ensemble. Then, as a cap to what he characterizes as "a great first year here at Trevor, Carlin was awarded a summer grant to revise the Middle School Band curriculum. As if that weren't enough for one year, Carlin married Esther Leung, his girlfriend of six years, on May 31st, at City Hall in New York. They are planning a larger celebration with friends and family early in 2025; look for a wedding photograph next year. Megan Henry, Upper School Science Teacher and Advisor, recently attended BookCamp, a three-day conference for authors who have won an Independent Press or NYC Big Book award. (Megan's award- winning title is An Incomplete Theory: The Search for Quantum Gravity (a story), published in 2021.) At BootCamp she learned "both from conference presenters, but also from fellow authors" practical tips on having your book reviewed; distributing it to libraries; how to create an audiobook; having your book illustrated; and demystifying the sharing of royalties. Jameelah Taylor, Middle and Upper School Choral Director and Advisor, let us know that on May 8, 2024, she was recognized by the GRAMMY Museum as a quarterfinalist for the 2025 Music Educator Award. This award was established to recognize current educators (Kindergarten through college and public and independent schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in schools. As part of a joint partnership and presentation of the Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum, the recipient will be recognized during GRAMMY Week 2025. Katelyn Schoenike, Upper School History Teacher and Advisor, spoke at the American Anthropological Association annual conference this past November about the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History exhibit entitled Cellphone: Unseen Connections, which opened in Washington, D.C. in June 2023. And, not so incidentally, Katie married Mohammad Sarhan in Youngstown, Ohio, on June 22nd. 8 / TREVOR MAGAZINE FALL 2024–25
