A Letter from the Head of School Dear Trevor Community: Near the close of this issue, you will find an article entitled, "How Trevor Added a High School" (p 80), written by Eric Lindow, our most tenured faculty member. The addition of Trevor's high school is a tentpole milestone in our nearly 95-year history. I started my teaching career in 1992 at the inception of this new division, with 70 students in grades 9–12. We now serve nearly 350 Upper School students; such growth has enabled us to develop a sweepingly ambitious curriculum, with competitive athletics, robust arts, and diverse extracurricular programs. Such depth was unimaginable at the onset. Being a part of that foundational period was— and remains—illuminating. Other elements in this issue celebrate a Trevor education and can be traced back to different periods in our history. For instance, images of Choreolab feature prominently (p 16). I remember what an important bridge Choreolab was in the early 90s. The continued success of this program carried over by Walden New Lincoln helped their faculty and staff to feel recognized and valued in the new iteration of The Day School. For 30+ years this program has inspired creativity and agency in our students. In fact, Choreolab is referenced with great fondness in both of this issue's alumni profiles. Jasper Soloff '13 is one of the two featured alumni in this issue (p 62). Jasper attended Trevor in the 2000s and early 2010s, alongside his two brothers. Jasper's is the first alumni photo essay we've published in Trevor Magazine, and I am always encouraged when I see creativity as the foundation of a career. Jasper explored numerous creative outlets during his tenure as a Trevor student, and it is highly gratifying (though unsurprising) to see the amazing images he produces behind the camera. I could not be more proud to call the Honorable Ayesha Brantley-Gosine '92 (p 56) a fellow alum. I loved reading her take on Trevor's academic program, and how it set her up for success in the field of law. I will follow the trajectory of her career with great interest. Our MiniTerm musicals are also commemorated in this issue. I've had the privilege of participating in and viewing Trevor's MiniTerm musicals for over five decades! In Middle School, I performed as a principal dancer in the Dream Ballet for Oklahoma, "waiter #1" in Hello Dolly (there was quite a buzz for that role), and Bill Sikes in Oliver. As a faculty and administrator member, I have witnessed incredible performances from students who went on to successful careers in the arts. Equally impressive were the hundreds of first-time actors, singers, and dancers. MiniTerm musicals help all to understand "the process," be a part of a cast/team, feel the nervous energy at the start of the overture, and celebrate the triumph of a performance well-done. This issue also celebrates the Class of 2024 Commencement. I was privileged to be in the role of Director of Upper School as these incredible individuals joined our community or transitioned from Trevor's Middle School in the midst of the pandemic. To call this group strong and resilient is an immense understatement. "What You May Have Missed" (p 24) features programs that are near and dear to my heart. Recent graduate Alexandra Weingard '24 writes about a special collaboration within our Global Studies and Bridge Programs: the Holocaust Remembrance trip. We spearheaded this trip in 2021, knowing students' study of history and literature could be more meaningful through this experience in Europe. This section also spotlights an ambitious Bridge project undertaken by some Class of 2024 alumni who graduated with Trevor's Environmental Studies Concentration—a living, breathing community garden. When I reflect on the flourishing of these signature programs, 32 years of graduating seniors, and the pages of milestones and accomplishments our alumni share (p 70) in each Trevor Magazine, it is hard to believe it started with just nine Nursery and Kindergarten students in 1930.
