Identity in the Age of Social Media: How Social Media Shapes Teenagers' Self-Concept In addition to the talented Trevor faculty, Experience Trevor regularly spotlights alumni educators. This year, Taylor Rathus, PhD (Trevor Day School Class of 2009, Psychology Teacher at Dwight School, CUNY Adjunct Professor, and author) returned to Trevor to offer a workshop exploring how adolescents navigate the intricate process of identity formation in an era dominated by curated profiles and constant visibility. This course referenced research in psychology, sociology, and neuroscience and drew many attendees striving for a broader foundation of knowledge on this crucial topic. She Blinded Me With Science Seventh-grade science teacher Kate Daly brought chemiluminescence to light for her students through a beautiful hands-on activity. Armed with an understanding of the chemical reaction that causes an emission of light, the class could then explore the many real-life applications of chemiluminescence, from forensics to diagnostics to environmental analysis. The Year of the Snake This class integrated Mandarin language study with Chinese culture through a celebration of the Lunar New Year, and the Year of the Snake. Long-time Mandarin teacher Xiaomo Hong took students on a journey through the legends of the snake and its significance in Chinese culture, key Chinese New Year blessings, and the art of Chinese characters and calligraphy. Befitting a celebration, the room was adorned with sculpture, lighting, and rich, beautiful papers and inks. TREVOR DAY SCHOOL / 25 INSIDE TREVOR TREVOR TRANSLATES FEATURE AR TICLES ALUMNI
