Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach Matthew Johann and Assistant Coach Barbara Schmidt This fall marked a season of growth and discovery for our Girls Varsity Volleyball team as we welcomed new members to replace the six athletes who graduated last year. Excitement and nerves were high as we discovered the new team dynamics and explored potential lineups. Early on, we challenged ourselves against top competition in scrimmages with Dalton, Chapin, and Riverdale, setting the tone for a season of development. As the season progressed, we uncovered our strengths and addressed our weaknesses, both on and off the court. More importantly, we learned the value of energy and effort from every teammate; this was key to our success. Along the way, we celebrated thrilling victories, including several nail-biting five-set tie breakers. Hosting the first round of NYCAL playoffs, we triumphed against a determined Lycée Français team in an unforgettable five-set match. Though our journey ended in the semifinals against eventual champions Columbia Prep, we battled fiercely, taking a set and pushing them every moment. We bid farewell to our talented graduating seniors Kira C., Maria G., Sam G., Layla N., Riley R., and Olivia U., who leave indelible marks on our program. With dedication in the off-season and the return of First-Team NYCAL award winner Charlotte N. '27, we are eager to build on this season's foundation and continue growing as a team.
