Pepa Munoz Tarazona, Lower School Spanish Teacher, and her husband Juan welcomed twins Rita and Gonzolo on January 7, 2025. Pepa adds, "They were born at Presbyterian Hospital. Gonzalo was born at 1:56 pm and Rita at 1:58 pm breech presentation. (Instead of her head coming out first, she put her feet out, like a slide!) It was a natural delivery. Both measured 18.5 inches. Gonzalo weighed 5.73 pounds, and Rita weighed 5.52 pounds. We are all very happy. The twins are growing a lot; after a month, they both weighed 7.93 pounds!" A double Trevorian welcome to them! Jameelah Taylor, Middle and Upper School Chorus Director and Advisor, was thrilled to tell us that "on December 7, 2024, three Troubadours Chorus junior students (Russell A., Graham H., and Kent W.) made their Carnegie Hall debut singing Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, a tuneful and contemporary composition, alongside The Cecilia Chorus of New York. Each week, the students rehearsed with Dr. Jeanne Goffi-Fynn of Teachers College, Columbia University, Cecilia Chorus Director Dr. Mark Shapiro, and me to learn this challenging piece, which featured modal melodies and unusual meters." Ms. Taylor says that Russell, Graham, and Kent handled this process with a great deal of professionalism and sensitivity to the music: "Learning all three movements of Chichester Psalms was quite challenging, but it was also a really fun process. We would have moments as a group where we couldn't help but laugh as we stumbled over the text, fast tempo, or quick meter change—but with persistence, we could celebrate our success. Instead of being the director, I got to learn with and sing alongside my students. In addition to seeing my students grow as musicians, my favorite moment of this experience was greeting our Trevor families outside of Carnegie Hall, all of whom were so supportive." Leann Winn, Upper School Science Teacher and Advisor, told us, "In my mind, this past summer, I achieved two major things, especially as a new mom. First, I presented on our 10th-grade Coordinated Science final, which entails the process of Diaphonization (simply known as Clearing and Staining), at the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) annual conference. Second, I was appointed a director for the NMEA for a second term." In the picture left, Leann is holding her now one-year-old baby, Jerzy Sphyrna alongside members of the National Marine Educators Association.
