lost on how to reach my goal. This class is helping me better grasp and apply an intuitive method to designing." AI and Technology Integration The ultimate goal is to create a makerspace that not only features cutting-edge technology but also fosters meaningful AI literacy for Trevor students. As we design this space—and long after it opens—we will keep refining how AI and technology are integrated into both the environment and the curriculum. Already, Making Space students use AI tools to organize information, identify patterns, and support early-stage ideation. As projects progress, AI will help prototype designs, plan spatial layouts, inform interdisciplinary work, and elevate the creative process as a whole. Our approach emphasizes thoughtful, intentional use, encouraging critical thinking while also serving as a catalyst for collaboration and inclusion. Above all, we hope students cultivate a mindset of curiosity, experimentation, and reflection, preparing them for a future shaped by evolving AI. As Shruthy Lakshminarasimhan, Making Space teacher and Upper School Computer Science teacher notes, "From programmable sewing machines and 3D printers to AI-driven design assistants, technology in makerspaces is transforming the way we invent, learn, and collaborate—making every idea more achievable." Looking Ahead We are thrilled about the integration of this new course into our curriculum and the makerspace's ongoing development. This initiative represents an exciting step forward for Trevor, expanding opportunities for hands-on learning, creativity, and collaboration. We envision the makerspace as a vibrant hub of inspiration—one that brings students, faculty, and staff together to explore technology, experiment with ideas, and strengthen connections across our community. As the makerspace comes to life, we look forward to seeing it become a shared space where curiosity thrives and innovation flourishes. n "THE DESIGN PROCESS IS THE PROCESS OF LIFE; VIRTUALLY ANYTHING IMPORTANT IS CREATED THROUGH A SIMILAR CYCLE. THE STEPS CAN BE APPLIED TO WRITING A PAPER, CHOOSING A GIFT, SHOPPING FOR GROCERIES— EVERYTHING!" TREVOR DAY SCHOOL / 31 INSIDE TREVOR TREVOR TRANSLATES FEATURE AR TICLES ALUMNI
