Trevor has a long-standing history
of working with the DNA Learning
Center (DNALC), and more recently
became a DNALC partner school.
DNALC's mission is to prepare
students and families to thrive in
what they describe as "the gene age."
Since its creation in 1988, the DNALC
has advanced genetics education
through hands-on laboratory
experiences for students and
educators in New York and beyond.
Eighth-grade science classes have
visited DNA LC every year since
the 2014–15 school year. (The
2020–21 academic year was the only
exception, due to the pandemic.)
Initially, 8th graders visited DNA LC's
Cold Spring Harbor site annually.
W hen the Brooklyn site at City Tech
was added, we switched our yearly
visits to that closer location. As
soon as we learned about the school
partner program, Trevor applied for
membership. We became full fledged
