Trevor and Bowdoin graduate—and I realized I was training him on the same path I had taken. Trevor: Which teachers or classes influenced you most? Rachel: Mr. Smith, who taught drama and was my advisor, was hugely important to me. He really encouraged me to be creative and take risks. I also loved Mr. Tam's science classes and credit Dan Feigin—now the Head of School—for teaching me how to write a proper essay. The support I received helped me grow into a confident, self-motivated student. Trevor: How did Trevor prepare you for your path in medicine? Rachel: Trevor gave me the freedom to explore and the structure to succeed. I was already self-driven, and Trevor supported that by giving me room to pursue what I loved: science, theater, athletics. I even earned my EMT certification during my senior Bridge project in the South Bronx, which was a formative early experience in healthcare. Trevor: What advice would you give to students or alumni interested in medicine? Rachel: Start networking early and get exposure to the field. Shadowing, volunteering, or speaking with people " SOME OF MY CLOSEST FRIENDS ARE PEOPLE I MET AT TREVOR, AND MY HUSBAND, GREGORY KUBIE '02, IS ALSO AN ALUM. " 46 / TREVOR MAGAZINE WINTER 2025–26
