"Working at Guarderia Catedral with their two amazing teachers, and seeing our students interact with these three-to-five-year-old children was one of the most rewarding experiences of our trip to Cuba…e moment we met these preschoolers, we felt their warm welcome and total lack of affectation—the purest form of the social, accepting, tolerant, non-contaminated beings we are all born as. ey see no color, no money, no clothing, no problem. ey see nothing but a bunch of friendly Trevor faces with whom to play. Incredibly beautiful." —Beatriz Rodriguez Grades 6–8 Spanish Teacher student service Tripin2017 All the students agreed that the highlight of the Cuba Club trip was their morning community service at Guarderia Catedral, a nursery school. eir service was arranged through the Cathedral of Havana with FundaciÓn Amistad, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering better mutual understanding and appreciation between Americans and Cubans. e students felt so welcome and connected with the children—and, more importantly, confident that they were making genuine contributions— that they asked to work an extra morning at the school, bringing the number of days there to five. ey gladly gave up half a day at a magnificent Caribbean beach to do so!
