When I was a few days old, my birth mother left me. When I was 14 months old, my mom found me. I carry two histories, two families, two names- I am both Sara Dorzback and Raisa Airepetyan. I am both American and Russian. My birth mother gave me breath, but my mom gave me life and for that I am eternally grateful. This is Raisa’s story - this is my story. I, like you, will someday welcome my past and derive from it only strength.
