Maria Gonzalez-Gil, Grades 6–8 French and Spanish Teacher, co-presented "Managing Learning Differences in the Foreign Language Classroom" with colleagues at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in New Orleans. Spiro Gouras, Grade 3 Teacher, along with colleagues Caren Goldberg (Grade 4), Andrew Marsiglio (Grade 5), Clodagh McCloskey (Grade 3), and Mary Moran (Grade 4), attended the Writing Revolution, a workshop that provides teachers with "tools to implement effective writing instructional strategies in all subjects." He also worked with Clodagh on a sustainability project that aims to make our 3rd-grade students (and by association, the entire school), more aware of effects their actions have on the planet. is is accomplished via data collection and analysis, as well as goal-oriented projects such as the Crayola Colorcycle program, which uses a process to convert old markers to energy. Brandy Hearn, Grade 4 Math and Science Head Teacher, married Diego Pardo on December 28th. e happy couple plan to throw a big party with friends and extended family this summer. Carly Kulawitz, Lower School Music Teacher, attended the 2018 AOSA Conference in Cincinnati, which she described "as dense and rich…life changing…you could easily have a year's worth of curriculum from just a single session." She returned eager to put what she learned into action.
