Radical Texts: Poetry, Politics & Performance: An example of a student project from the Upper School English elective of the same name was featured in this class. Here, Jo G. '21 presented elements of her in-depth study of commedia dell'arte. How Did We Get Here? Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Dr. Ibram X. Kendi: Stamped explored the legacy of racism throughout America's entire history. Parents undertook an abbreviated version of the comprehensive analysis of this seminal work that all Middle and Upper School students tackled this year. Upper School students met in four separate assemblies to process and discuss the book, in preparation for Jason Reynolds' virtual visit on March 3rd. (See page 22 for more about this major author's time at Trevor.) Governance and Politics: 2021 and Beyond: Adapted from a four-part series offered to students and parents by History Department Chair Richard ornburgh (see page 10), this session examined the rationale behind decisions made by the different branches of government—and discussed new economic dynamics and social trends that will shape American lives over the next decade. Tupac as Muse: Tupac Shakur 's Inf luence on The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas: This class examined Tupac's poetry, his activism, and his philosophy as an introduction to omas' bestselling novel. Ar t of the Chinese Language: This course demystified some of the most common Chinese pictographic characters.
