Trevor's Board of Trustees Debra Appelbaum P'23, P'26 ................................................................. Debra (Deb) Appelbaum and her husband, Paul, joined the Trevor community in 2010. ey have two sons enrolled at the school: Ben in 11th grade and Russell in 8th grade. Deb has been a long-standing volunteer with the Parents Association and was a 10th-grade class representative. In addition, she has served as a Parent Admissions Ambassador and as a Campaign Committee member. Prior to joining the Trevor community, Deb served as Director of Organizational Development at American Express. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and earned an MA in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. Ramin Kamfar P'25, P'32 ........................................................................... Ramin Kamfar joined the Trevor community in 2018, when his son, William, enrolled in 6th grade. e following year, his daughter, Caroline, enrolled in Kindergarten. Ramin is Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Bluerock Real Estate, LLC, a leading institutional alternative asset manager. He has 30 years of experience in various aspects of real estate, mergers, and acquisitions, as well as private equity investing, investment banking, and public and private financings. From 1988 to 1993, he worked as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. In 1993, Ramin left Lehman to focus on private equity transactions. From 1993 to 2002, he executed a growth/consolidation strategy to build a start-up into a leading public company in the "fast casual" market now known as Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. From 1999 Maria Denis-Khan P'26, P'30 ................................................................... Maria Denis-Khan and her husband, Farouk Khan, joined the Trevor community in 2013. ey have a son, Aiden, in 8th grade and a daughter, Chloe, in 4th grade. Maria is currently in her first year as the PA Co-President for the Lower School. Prior to her term, Maria served as a PA Division Chair for Grades 1–3 and as a PA representative; she also organized the 2020 Lower School book fair. Maria has served as a Parent Admissions Ambassador for the Lower School and as a Trevor Fund Ambassador. Maria began her career in healthcare operations 30 years ago and has worked at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) for 26 years. She manages a subdivision of the legal and compliance team overseeing patient information disclosures. Prior to this role, Maria managed the operations of the VNSNY's for-profit start-up and was essential to that program's growth. She has also volunteered at the VNSNY's telephone reassurance program, reaching out to Spanish-speaking patients in times of crisis such as Superstorm Sandy. Maria has a BS in Business Management and an MBA. She graduated from both programs summa cum laude. Maria attended Hunter College, the University of Puerto Rico, and the University of Phoenix, and is an alumna of e Bronx High School of Science.
