Sonja Orgias P'26 ............................................................................................... Sonja Orgias joined the Trevor community in 2013, enrolling her daughter, Ilan, now an 8th grader. An alumna of Boston University, the native Brooklynite returned to New York to study law at Hofstra University. Sonja currently serves as the Deputy Chief Counsel for New York City Emergency Management. Her career as an attorney, enhanced by emergency management training, has prepared her to handle the fast-paced work necessary to support the City's coordinated response to COVID-19. During her time in city service, Sonja has also worked as an attorney for the New York City Fire Department and as an administrative law judge for the Environmental Control Board. She has a background in bankruptcy, immigration, and administrative law and alternative dispute resolution, including serving as a member of the FINRA arbitration panel. Sonja's most treasured role is the opportunity to be a mother to her daughter, and she is committed to living her life so that Ilan sees firsthand that we all can make a meaningful impact in the world. Sonja has volunteered as a NYC Civil Court Small Claims Arbitrator, and more recently, as a mentor and speech coach for a high school student participating in an oratorical competition. Sonja also judges annual mock trial and moot court competitions at the high school and law school levels. Samantha Regan P'27, P'35 ......................................................................... Samantha (Sam) Regan and her husband, Maurice, joined the Trevor community in 2011. ey currently have two sons enrolled in the school: Jack in 7th grade and Liam in Pre-K. Sam has been a Trevor Fund Ambassador for nearly a decade and has served as a PA class representative for several years. Sam's professional background is in special education. She received a BSc in Psychology from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London, and an MA in Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Upon completion of her masters' degree, Sam worked at the May Institute in Massachusetts, a leader in the field of applied behavior analysis, and one of the largest and most well-respected providers of services and special education for children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities, neurobehavioral disorders, brain injury, and other special needs. While working with children, she provided and oversaw intensive home-based services. In addition, she developed and oversaw the implementation of individual education plans, behavior support plans, and educational programming. Her work with school districts entailed on-site consultation and professional development; progress monitoring; data collection, analysis, and data-based decision- making; program evaluations; and system-wide consultation, staff training, and professional development. As director of the division of School and Home-Based Consultation, Sam provided training to staff, families, and school districts regarding best practices for working with children with autism spectrum disorders, and oversaw the services provided by therapists and consultants.
