Clare Smith Marash '05 Clare Smith Marash '05 helped produce a four-part documentary on ESPN. Entitled 37 Words, it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX: the law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in any school that accepts federal funding. is law fundamentally changed women's sports in the United States. Congratulations, Clare, on its production, and thanks for helping to highlight the progress and current state of women's professional sports in America. Melba Beltre '07 Melba Beltre '07 and Louis Virgadula welcomed Maria, their first child, into the world in February. Shown here with her happy parents, Maria's pictures have been swarming the internet ever since. Congratulations to the family. We wish you all the best for the future! Xander Tartter '08 Xander Tartter '08 is currently hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, a 2,650-mile adventure that stretches from the Mexican to Canadian border, and usually takes about five months to complete. Currently, Xander and hiking partner Kate, are just past halfway to completion. Good luck on the rest of your hike, Kate and Xander! Isabelle Notter '08 Isabelle Notter '08 shared that in March she received her PhD in sociology from Brown University. Izzy also shared that she's been living in DC since December 2020 and is currently working for the U.S. Census Bureau as a statistician and demographer. Congratulations, Isabelle, on earning your doctorate! Cate Mahoney '08 Recently, Cate Mahoney '08 walked at her graduation for her PhD in English Literature from Princeton University. Cate had completed her work in 2020, but the pandemic prevented her from having the chance to formally walk at the award ceremony until this past spring. Congratulations, Cate, on your accomplishment! Keith Meatto AF '08 Former faculty member Keith Meatto '08 has written several articles for the New York Times, with subject matters ranging from poetry to diversity. e most recent is titled Repetition, Repetition, Repetition: Working with Alliteration, Anaphora and Epistrophe in Poetry. Keith also shared that he's currently teaching expository writing at NYU-Stern School of Business, and Creative Writing in college programs at two New York State prisons. anks for the update, Keith. Francesca Calo '09 Francesca Calo '09 is having a busy year. Francesca will be a guest judge at the Tryon International Film Festival in October, where she will adjudicate films in the new animation
