Health & Wellness Objectives The overall goal for Trevor's Health & Wellness program is to provide students with tangible skills that can be integrated into life outside the classroom. At Trevor's Middle School level, the connection between the physiological effects of puberty to social and emotional development is pivotal in yielding a well-balanced student who is equipped to thrive. By the time students reach Upper School, they are expected to research, write, and present effective strategies for stress management, mental health, and health literacy. In both the Middle and Upper School, creating a safe and designated space for students to decompress and ask questions has become increasingly important in the evolving Health & Wellness program. (See the chart below.) In Middle School, students are laying the groundwork of building a holistic understanding of what health is and diving into three main categories of health: mental, socialemotional, and physical. Each class is designed to give students a tangible tool to start integrating into their lives and enable them to build a strong connection between the different dimensions of health and the unique experience of puberty. Students spend time learning a variety of tools, including stress-relief techniques, conflict-management skills, emotion identification, the dangers of substance abuse, responsible social media usage, and sex education.
