Maya Kinley-Hanlon '13 Maya Kinley-Hanlon '13 recently shared an interesting update on her current research: "In 2022, I had the opportunity to attend two in-person conferences and present the research I have been working on over the last several years for my PhD. It was inspiring to connect with the research community again face-to-face. First, I attended Optica's Optical Interference Coatings Conference in June in Whistler, Canada. I had many great conversations with scientists working in the field of coatings and thin films. Through my conversations and attending presentations, I learned more about the extended coatings and thin-film research field and the fascinating work being done across many companies globally. Secondly, I attended the LIGO-Virgo- KAGRA Collaboration meeting in September, held in Cardiff, Wales. After years of working and meeting virtually, seeing my friends and colleagues in person was fantastic. While there, I presented my work on cryogenic nanolayer coatings. This research is being done to investigate whether nanoscale coatings may improve mechanical loss for gravitational wave detectors. This work is still in progress, and a paper is expected to follow soon. I am looking forward to continuing this work in 2023!" Can't wait to learn more about your work, Maya! Sadasia McCutchen '13 Sadasia McCutchen '13 shared, "I am grateful for the opportunity to ring the opening bell at NYSE with Black Women on Boards (BWOB) on February 14th. The energy was exhilarating and the urgency to ensure that Black women in leadership positions have a seat at the table was palpable. BWOB's work is vital because it is about creating a more just and equitable world. When we have more diversity in our boardrooms, we make better decisions that reflect the needs of all stakeholders. We also create a more inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong. I'm proud and honored to be a part of the Black Women on Boards movement, and I'm excited to see what we can achieve together. We are making history!" Congratulations, Sadasia, and thank you for your efforts! Amanda Briskin-Wallace '15 Amanda Briskin-Wallace '15 shared, "I'm so full of joy and excitement! I'm playing Kate in the Broadway Bods production of Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party, directed by one of my absolute favorite humans, Grace Lazos! The entire Broadway Bods team has created a beautiful, supportive, body-positive space to create art and I'm so honored I get to be a part of this production," the first full-scale production by the new theatre company, Broadway Bods. Founded by Grace Lazos in 2021, Broadway Bods is committed to fighting size stigma and fatphobia in the performing arts industry. Broadway Bods' mission is to provide opportunities for performers living in larger bodies, showcase stories that share real lived experiences, and create an inclusive, safe theatre space for both performers and audiences. 76 / TREVOR MAGAZINE SUMMER 2022–2023
