Lain Sprigman '17 Lain Sprigman '17 revealed some details about a new project he's co-founding to help track decarbonization efforts from major businesses and industries: "Reflecting on last September's World Cleanup Day official panel at the Estonian Consulate in New York City..., we discussed the crucial role of transparency in key emissions reporting for major carbon-intensive companies. A select few sector-specific metrics are critical for assessing current and future decarbonization performance. These metrics, when disclosed clearly, are the antidote to greenwashing, as well as a tool for assessing the effectiveness of climate-tech innovations that have been deployed as part of decarbonization efforts. If mega-cap companies provided a one-page disclosure detailing the most critical sector-specific metrics, we could gain more insight into their decarbonization journey than from their current reports that often exceed 300 pages. This is why I'm co- founding Signal Transparency, a forthcoming nonprofit providing the public with an intuitive new way to track disclosure of the metrics that matter most from the companies that matter most…. We have just launched our website signaltransparency.org. I've attached an image with me as a panelist presenting our foundation, and another photograph for the utilities sector that shows the beta product, which tracks disclosure practices of the few metrics that matter most across the top companies globally.
