Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach Josh Kingsley and Assistant Coach Ajay Jagadesan The Boys Varsity Basketball team concluded their season with a commendable 17–9 overall record and a strong 13–3 mark in league play. During the regular season, they faced Columbia Prep twice, resulting in a split—thus, both teams were named co-champions. The two teams then met in the league championship game, where Columbia Prep ultimately emerged victorious. The team's strong performance throughout the season, highlighted by key non-league wins, earned them a spot in the NYSAIS State Tournament as the #8 seed. In the first round, they faced their familiar rival, York Prep (#9), in a thrilling overtime battle. The team triumphed, winning 76–70 and advancing to the quarterfinals. There, they squared off against the top-seeded Friends Seminary. The boys came out strong, starting with an 11–0 lead and maintaining the advantage through the third quarter. However, fatigue set in, and Friends Seminary mounted a comeback, ultimately securing a 65–60 win to end the team's tournament run. Individually, the team's standout players received well-deserved recognition. Luke G. and Jack M. were named first team All-League, with Luke earning the League MVP award. Alex N. earned second team All-League honors, proving to all how vital he was to our success. Huge thanks to our seniors, York B., Mahamadou D., Luke G., Jack M., Alex N., and Dylan S. for their hard work and dedication, which played a crucial role in shaping the team's culture and success. As the team looks ahead, they are set to return a talented and eager group of young players who are ready to continue building on this foundation and make their own championship run in the future! TREVOR DAY SCHOOL / 17 Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach Kyle Dudley, Assistant Coach Ellen Margaret Andrews, and Assistant Coach Edie Markman This season was a tremendous one for the Girls Varsity Basketball team, marked by growth, teamwork, and many great achievements. The team finished with a 17–8 record, was a League Championship finalist, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NYSAIS State Tournament. Our chemistry and cohesion grew stronger throughout the season, and by February, we were a much better team than we were in November— a true testament to our development. Individually, sophomore Spring P. earned a spot on the NYCAL All-League First Team, while junior Liv C. was named to the NYCAL All-League Second Team. Both players had outstanding seasons, and we are happy to see their accomplishments recognized by the league. The team will graduate one senior, Lola S., whose leadership will be greatly missed, but with 11 returning players, the future is bright. Other returners include Junior Linnea A.L., who stepped up in the playoffs, delivering back-to-back 19-point performances in both the league semi-finals and finals. Sophomore Emily O. had a standout season, ranking among the team's leading scorers, while sophomore Tamara F. was a great defensive and rebounding contributor off the bench. Every player made a significant contribution to the team's success, and we're excited to build on this foundation and strive for even greater achievements next season!
