90 TREVOR CULINARY COLLECTION DESSERT Nana's Magic Cookie Bars Gabriele-Diforio Family Dexter '35 and Sawyer '38 This easy recipe has been a family staple! Lauren's mom (Dexter's nana) would bring these to every picnic or gathering, often at the guests' request. The 4th of July would not be the same without these as a special treat alongside S'mores and ice pops! INGREDIENTS 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs (give or take) ½ cup butter, melted 1 (14 ounces) can sweet and condensed milk 12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 1 / 3 cups flaked coconut (roughly one bag) 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) DIRECTIONS 1. Grease a 13" x 9" brownie pan/ baking dish 2. Melt butter and mix in bottom of pan/baking dish with graham cracker crumbs until equally coated/ moist. If it's too dry the crust will fall apart—too wet and it will be soggy! You can add more graham cracker crumbs or butter as needed. (This will look like a cheesecake pie crust!) 3. Press evenly into the bottom of the pan. Use the bottom of a plate/measuring cup/ etc to make it smooth and even. 4. OPTIONAL: Spread finely chopped walnuts on top of crust 5. Spread chocolate chips evenly on top of the graham cracker crust (Walnut layer using) 6. Spread coconut evenly on top of the chocolate chips 7. Evenly drizzle Sweet and Condensed milk on top. 8. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 min/ until the coconut topping starts to turn brown! 9. Remove from oven and let cool. 10. Place in fridge for a minimum of 2 hours before attempting to cut and enjoy!
