As a conservatively trained, classical clarinetist, she had veered away from improvisation. rough this experience, Ms. Kulawitz was delighted to bring the "soul" back to her music and impart it to her students. Her goals for this workshop were to learn a variety of techniques to use specifically with Trevor's 4th- and 5th- grade choir and to continue to develop strategies that In-Depth: Circlesinging with Bobby McFerrin would give her students a deep love and appreciation of music. She emerged from the workshop with an even more profound love for music and a toolbox of resources for all her students. According to Ms. Kulawitz, "McFerrin is, without a doubt, a most enlightened, musical, and spiritual human being, and a musical master whom I am honored to now call my greatest teacher." Having just scratched the surface of what she can learn, she looks forward to returning to the workshop in the near future.
