Julia Griner '82 After nine years in NY and eight years in Paris (just blocks from Katy Bijur Renard '82), my husband, Pino, and I decided to return to Italy. Instead of moving back to his hometown of Milano, we have settled in Rome and have opened a cooking school in Trastevere called Grano & Farina. It's a departure from my many years as a photographer, but after a broken back prevented me from carrying cameras on location, I joined him in the kitchen. Pino is a chef and pastry expert, and I went back to school in Bologna to become a sfoglina—a pasta maker who works entirely by hand, using traditional techniques and a long rolling pin (110-120 cm). We now work together at the Grano & Farina—I teach pasta courses; he teaches a variety of other topics. We hope to see my fellow Day Schoolers when they visit the Eternal City. Pop by for a coffee and catch up in person! Barbara Magnoni '82 is year, my daughters have started college and high school, respectively— Emma at Tufts and Alexa at the High School for American Studies at Lehman College in the Bronx.
