school ultimately paved the way for my college studies and subsequent career. As someone who always loved to write, it wasn't a huge leap when I decided to major in journalism. I love talking to new people, asking questions, and being social—so the reporting process was a good fit. Carly: roughout middle and high school, I was very outgoing and social. In addition to strong academics, the Trevor community emphasized the importance of strengthening relationships with others, whether it was with your classmates, friends, or teachers. Trevor helped mold and strengthen my ability to work well in groups and thrive independently, which is a huge part of my work environment today. What are your current positions? Gaby: I work as a marketing and communications strategist for Citigroup's Technology Office. Our global organization is the force behind any and all technology at Citi, keeping the firm running. I help promote new applications and products, develop and execute large-scale tech events, and serve as a marketing and communications lead for clients across all business areas. I also serve as the voice behind the entire department, whether I'm authoring an email campaign on behalf of our CTO, devising the strategy behind our global tech expos or employee Town Hall, or managing our day-to-day communications platforms. Carly: I work at an online retailer, Bluefly. com, as the Ecommerce Assistant Manager. I knew that I wanted to work in fashion early on, but I decided to pursue digital marketing after my internships throughout college. At Bluefly, I manage the website daily, am in charge of coding and executing all site refreshes, and work with other departments to spearhead new onsite campaigns. I especially appreciate that my position is a balance of technical work and collaboration. How do you think Trevor helped curate and support your strengths? Gaby: Trevor is one of the most supportive, immersive, and engaging learning environments I've ever experienced. e teachers instill in you a sense of fearlessness when it comes to pursuing your passions and exploring your interests, and there is an innate understanding that each student contributes something different but equally valuable. e strong connections and openness between teachers and students prepare you for so much once you leave the school—including 5 3 T R E V O R D AY S C H O O L n FALL 20 1 7 – 2 0 1 8 being able to openly express your goals, celebrate your strengths, ask questions, and keep learning. I always felt supported, even when something did not come easily to me. Carly: Trevor is such an amazing, strong, and supportive community. I think that one of its core values is to always support one another and refrain from judgment. Trevor also fosters a highly collaborative environment, which made me feel comfortable working with others. e close-knit relationships between teachers and students helped me to "curate" my strengths, which later allowed me to ask questions and meet with professors in college without hesitation and also to build strong connections with new people. What advice would you give to other sibling students? Gaby: Look out for one another. Always. Don't ignore your younger sibling because you're older and think you're cool. Carly: Always support each other and stick together. High school isn't always the easiest time, and knowing that your sibling always has your back and is looking out for you is all the more comforting! n Above, left: Gaby at commencement in 2010.
