Boys Varsity Baseball Anthony Galvin, Boys Varsity Baseball Coach The 2024 varsity baseball season was a season of growth. Freshmen and sophomores comprised the majority of the team, with only four seniors and one junior. The season started with a great trip with 18 players (JV and varsity) to Disney's Wide World of Sports, which allowed them to get outside and practice when the weather was too cold in NYC. It was also a great opportunity for the student-athletes to bond and come together as a team. Although our record wasn't on the winning side, we competed in every game and proved to be tough competitors against our opponents. Our final regular season game was our best of the year, and we defeated Loyola, 11–1, to earn the #4 seed in the league tournament. Eventually losing to overall champions Columbia Prep, we played our best baseball at the end of the season, convincing us that we will be competing for a championship in the near future. Congratulations to Dylan Yohai '24 and Jagger B. '27 on being named to the All-League Team. Girls Varsity Softball Claudio Barbieri, Girls Varsity Softball Coach The 2024 varsity softball season was filled with many exciting moments and accolades, and it concluded with a NYCAL championship! The team opened their season against Grace Church, getting their first league win of the season. The Dragons would finish with an 8–4 overall record and 6–2 in league play, which earned them the #2 seed in the NYCAL playoff tournament. The team beat Grace Church in the semifinal game and then went on to beat the #1 seed, Loyola, in the championship game to claim the NYCAL postseason championship for the first time since 2015! In addition to the NYCAL championship, the team received some personal and team accolades. Liv C. '26, Anjali D. '26, and Delfina V. '29 were named to the NYCAL Softball All-League Team. Liv C. '26 was also named Co-MVP of the league. Perhaps most importantly, the team received the Sportsmanship Award. Thank you to everyone who supported the varsity softball team this season!
