Faculty Bulletins Emily (Zimmerman) Maryles, Grade 5 Head Teacher (Mathematics), was thrilled to tell us that "Cameron Cruz Maryles was born on the morning of October 18, 2024, weighing 7 pounds and measuring 19.5 inches. Emily and her husband Corey adore being his parents and love watching his personality grow! He's a very happy and sweet little boy with lots of smiles!" Tiffany Amin Javaheri, Middle School English Teacher, was recently accepted into the MA program in the Teaching of English (Grades 7–12) at Teachers College, Columbia University. She will start classes this summer. Tiffany also received the Founder's Award, a merit-based scholarship. She tells us, "I'm eager to bring what I learn in my studies into my work at Trevor. The coursework this summer will directly inform the curriculum I design for the year ahead." Tom Cutrofello, Middle School Mathematics Teacher and Advisor, told us, "There is a new documentary film called The Puzzle Palace about an eccentric couple named George and Roxanne Miller, who have the world's largest puzzle collection. We've been friends for many years. Filmmaker Jenny Schweitzer Bell visited Trevor the day I hosted the New York Puzzle Party. As a result, I have a 20-second cameo role. The Puzzle Palace premiered at SXSW in Austin in March 2024. It then traveled to film festivals throughout North America, including (in chronological order) Milwaukee, D.C., Crested Butte, Calgary, Charlotte, Nashville, the Hamptons, and Philadelphia, ending in November at New York City's famed Angelika Film Center." Elaine Kaufman, Lower School Librarian, tells us, "I'm completing a workshop sponsored by Project Look Sharp called Constructivist Media Coding. It's been a great opportunity to connect with other librarians and think about ways to enhance what I have been doing in the Lower School to teach students media literacy skills. The focus is on teaching K–12 students how media have different purposes, what the message of different media is, and what the maker wants them to think or feel. These skills are foundational for navigating the myriad ways that people encounter media and have become ever more critical as misinformation has become more pervasive." 4 / TREVOR MAGAZINE SPRING 2024–25
